It still works...

The traditional approach to retail loyalty account still works. Issue someone some kind of tag with a number and then have them scan it every time they make a purchase.

The more modern way is to have them throw in their phone number and that’s a bit better than the traditional way.

From out in the wild comes nirvana?

Recently my bank offered me a benefit for money off at a gas chain. I’m like, “Ya know what that’s the one I normally go to so sure.” The next time I went to to pump I wasn’t sure how to make sure I get my discount so I just put in my debit card. Next thing I know it’s saying I’m getting 6 cents off a gallon today. Not too shabby! Once they emailed me a receipt I stood back to look at the business process flow and just knew I had to share it here. O.M.G. This is gold!

What can you use in your business to automate loyalty tracking so that the customer doesn’t have to do anything extra to gain the benefit?

Take bank cards? Then use the hash out of the P.O.S. and give them their discounts.

Have a mobile app that they are already logged into?
